Along the Alouette
The valley of the Alouette lies in British Columbia and leads down into the Fraser River, Here are the magnificent red pines (though these are not the fabled ancient ones of the coast), which catch the light, while their lower branches are bathed in purple shadows. A gorgeous spot for anyone to roam in, but especially for an artist.
Midsummer
This painting was done on a beautiful August day on a highway in southern Ontario. The whole scene seemed to sigh with the satisfaction of fruition--the hay just cut or waiting to be cut.
